Customer demand

CTP not long ago opened a large distribution center on the North Sea Canal in Amsterdam.

An impressive location, right on the water. When the tenth edition of SAIL Amsterdam took place in the same year, they saw a unique opportunity. During the SAIL-In, the entire fleet sailed on the first day right past their venue. This, of course, constituted the ideal situation for an unforgettable event.

The wish: to organize a special relation event during SAIL, where CTP together with Oram and MKB Amsterdam could host their networks. What began as a global idea, “something with SAIL,” grew into an ambitious project in which experience and connection were key.

The event content

At the heart of the event was the live experience of the SAIL-In Parade. Iconic ships sailed by at close range and together formed a spectacular backdrop. This unique setting provided the perfect foundation for a grand but relaxed networking event. Against this backdrop, we transformed a bare quay into a warm and inviting event location.

CTP, along with its partners, invited business associates, clients, tenants and potential tenants. That mix created an accumulation of networks that met in a maritime and festive atmosphere. At the same time, the event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the distribution center.

The whole thing took place on a sun-drenched day, which added to the atmosphere and turned the North Sea Canal into an impressive stage.

The challenge

The biggest challenge was in making substantive choices with multiple clients at the table. Each had their own interests and wishes, which made for intensive coordination. This extensive communication took time, but ultimately ensured that all parties felt heard and fully supported the end result.

In addition, the location itself also presented a challenge: a barren, concrete plain along the canal, where wind has free rein and atmosphere is far from available. It was precisely there that our experience came into its own. By taking away the rough quayside feel, we transformed a functional parking lot into an inviting and attractive event location where guests immediately felt at ease.

Added value

Our added value was in the total unburdening of the client. From the starting point “something to do with SAIL”, we took CTP through various scenarios: from grand and compelling to subdued and everything in between. This provided insight into what was possible and what best suited their objectives.

We then took on the entire production, including venue design, atmosphere, logistics and guest communication through the Momice platform. With a smart floor plan, strong partners and the construction of a temporary pavilion, we transformed the venue into a place where people wanted to be. Making something out of nothing, and making that something exceed expectations. That’s exactly where our strength lies.

The collaboration

Because this was a first collaboration, we invested a lot in building trust. Together, we discovered what CTP needed, what they wanted to outsource and what they actually wanted to stay involved in.

That balance was quickly found. We were given room to use our expertise and CTP knew that virtually any question could be put to us. That trust was the basis for a pleasant and effective collaboration.

The result

The result was an impressive relationship event in a setting no one had seen coming. The combination of the temporary location, the maritime atmosphere and the spectacular SAIL-In made for an unforgettable experience.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. Both the clients and their guests received plenty of compliments. The ultimate proof of success even followed during the event: it was announced on the spot that this collaboration will have a sequel in 2030, during the next edition of SAIL Amsterdam. A nicer compliment is hardly possible.
